"As much as I'd love to get you into the gym and lifting, we don't have to start there." Everyone's needs are different. For some people the best session is a quiet gym with just us in it. For others it's learning to play soccer, a walk on a sunny day, or kicking a ball around the oval. Capacity building doesn't need to be about coming into a gym and lifting weights, and it should never be a mentally or emotionally stressful event. Anything that improves your health, gets you active and fills your battery counts. The support exists to help you reach your goals, not mine.
How NDIS funds exercise physiology in Canberra.
Exercise physiology is a funded NDIS support under the Capacity Building and Core Supports budgets, depending on your plan goals and the nature of the support. Fitness & Wellbeing Physiology is an unregistered NDIS provider, which means we work with self-managed and plan-managed participants only. We cannot accept agency-managed (NDIA-managed) participants at this stage.
James bills exercise physiology under the Improved Daily Living support category (15_056_0128_1_3 for initial assessments and 15_056_0128_1_3 for follow-ups, or 07_002_0126_6_3 for Capacity Building depending on plan structure). Remedial massage for NDIS participants is billed under Improved Daily Living therapeutic supports. All invoicing is handled through Clinic1 with appropriate NDIS line items and clear descriptions.

What NDIS exercise physiology sessions include.
NDIS exercise physiology sessions at Fitness & Wellbeing Physiology are 1:1 with James, always. Sessions include functional assessment and monitoring, individualised exercise prescription, hands-on technique coaching, progress reporting, and goal review. James writes NDIS-compliant progress notes and provides formal written reports for plan reviews on request.
Conditions commonly supported through NDIS exercise physiology include psychosocial disabilities (PTSD, anxiety, depression), neurological conditions (acquired brain injury, MS, stroke, Parkinson's disease), musculoskeletal conditions (complex injuries, chronic pain), and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Exercise physiology is particularly effective for NDIS participants where improved physical function, community participation, and independence are key plan goals.

Why participants and families choose me.
NDIS services can feel like being processed. This is the opposite. Every session here is one on one with the same clinician, me, every single time. No rotating staff, no support worker with a program written by someone you never met. I learn how you communicate, what a good day looks like, what a hard week means, and the program flexes around the person rather than the other way round.
Goals here get translated into things that matter: getting on and off the floor to play with your kids, walking the school pickup without the wheelchair, a body that lets you say yes to the sunny day. Progress gets measured and reported in plain language your planner and plan manager can actually use at review time.
Practical and easy to work with.
- Service agreements signed digitally in the room, five minutes, no paperwork chase
- Invoices to your plan manager the same day, correctly coded, every time
- Reports written for plan reviews that actually support your funding case
- Support coordinators: one phone call gets a straight answer on fit and availability
I work with self managed and plan managed participants at the current NDIS rate of $161.99 per hour, GST free, with no travel charges for clinic sessions. If I am not the right fit for a participant, I will say so on the first call and save everyone a plan's worth of wasted funding.
